Did you perform the Lighting System Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Determine if the courtesy lamps operate from the interior lamp switch.
  2. Turn the dimmer switch to the DOME position.

Do the courtesy lamps operate from the interior lamp switch?

Go to Step 3

Go to Courtesy Lamps Inoperative

  1. With the ignition in the OFF position.
  2. Turn the dimmer switch to the OFF position.
  3. Lift each front door handle one at a time waiting for the courtesy lamps to turn off before lifting the next door handle.
  4. Observe the courtesy lamps.

Do the courtesy lamps illuminate for each front door?

Go to Step 4

  1. With the ignition in the OFF position.
  2. From the inside of the vehicle, open and close each door one at a time waiting for the courtesy lamps to turn off before opening the next door.
  3. Observe the courtesy lamps.

Do the courtesy lamps illuminate for each door?

  1. Unlock the vehicle doors using the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) system.
  2. Observe the courtesy lamps.

Do the courtesy lamps illuminate?

  1. Turn the ignition in the On position.
  2. Turn the ignition in the OFF position.
  3. Remove the ignition key.
  4. Observe the courtesy lamps.

Do the courtesy lamps illuminate?

Determine under which of the following parameters the illuminated entry feature is inoperative:

    • Inoperative from the drivers door
    • Inoperative from one door other than the drivers door
    • Inoperative from all doors other than the drivers door

Is the illuminated entry feature inoperative when the drivers doors is opened?

Probe the ground circuit of the LF door lock with a test lamp that is connected to battery positive voltage.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 20

Is the illuminated entry feature inoperative from only one door other than the drivers door?

Probe the ground circuit of the door lock in the inoperative door with a test lamp that is connected to a battery positive voltage.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Test for an open or high resistance in the inoperative door latch switch signal circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

  1. Turn the ignition in the OFF position.
  2. Leave the ignition key in the ignition.
  3. Open the driver door.

Does the key in ignition audible chime sound?

Go to Step 14

  1. With the ignition in the OFF position.
  2. Remove the ignition key in the ignition.
  3. With the driver door open.

Does the key in ignition audible chime sound?

Test for an open or high resistance in the front door handle switch signal circuit of the inoperative front door handle. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair an open or high resistance in the ground circuit of the LF door lock. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair an open or high resistance in the ground circuit in the inoperative door lock. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

If the courtesy lamps are inoperative from all doors other than the driver door, repair an open or a high resistance in the secondary door latch switch signal circuit of the body control module (BCM). Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.

Replace the inoperative door lock. Refer to Front Side Door Lock Replacement or Rear Door Lock Replacement in Doors.

  1. Connect all connector and components that were disconnected.
  2. Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Does the system operate properly?

System OK
