Removal Procedure

Important: 

   • In order to minimize door realignment, do not remove both door hinges at the same time. Do each door hinge separately, and replace the broken door hinge first.
   • If front door, do not loosen the cone adjuster bolt (10-mm hex head), the cone could fall down inside the pillar and create a rattle situation.

  1. Remove the door. Refer to Door Removal - Front or Rear Side Door Removal .
  2. Clean the mounting surfaces and use a grease pencil to mark the door hinge locations on each surface.

  4. Remove the door hinge to door bolts (2).

  5. Object Number: 166403  Size: SH
  6. Remove the door hinge to body bolts.
  7. Remove the door hinge from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Align the door hinge to the body and the door.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    Important: Loctite® Blue, GM P/N 12345382 or equivalent should be used on the bolts prior to installation.

  3. Install the door hinge to door bolts (2).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the door hinge to door bolts to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).

  5. Install the door hinge to body bolts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the door hinge to body bolts to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).

  7. Install the door. Refer to Door Removal - Front or Rear Side Door Removal .
  8. Adjust the door as required. Refer to Door Adjustment .
