We are pleased to announce the fourth quarter, 1996 class schedule for the Service Technical (15-Day) Program. (Refer to Service Information Bulletin number 96-I-11, dated June, 1996, for the third quarter schedule.) These classes are presented in the Service Technical Training Center in Spring Hill, TN.
Eligibility: For existing facilities, all new hires, transfers, role changes, or others, shall satisfactorily complete the first available class(es) for all required initial training as approved by the Franchise Operations Team (FOT), and detailed in the Initial Training Matrix.
The Service Technical (15 Day) Program is a required class for all technicians classified as SVTC on the Member Roster.
Technician Apprentices (TCAP) are not to exceed one year in this role code, they may attend the Service Technical (15 Day) Program.
Saturn-sponsored students in the GM Automotive Service Educational Program (ASEP) are eligible to attend six months prior to and up to six months after ASEP graduation. Contact your facility's training liaison or your Saturn field representative if you have any questions about who or when they should attend.
Enrollment: To enroll in the Service Technical (15-Day) Program, call the Saturn Retail Training Team at 1 800 828-2112, prompt 5. Be sure to specify the class number in which you are enrolling.
Program Information: The program captures technical information for vehicle model years 1991 through 1997 and is structured as follows:
- Day 1: Diagnostic Strategy Introduction, Saturn Culture and Values - Day 2: Electrical Systems - Day 3: Service Stall System and Diagnostic Exercises - Day 4: Body System Diagnosis and Servicing - Day 5: Air Bag Systems and Diagnostic Exercises
- Day 6: Chassis Systems and Diagnostic Exercises - Day 7: Manual Transaxle Servicing and Repair - Day 8: Automatic Transaxle Diagnosis and Repair - Day 9: Automatic Transaxle Diagnosis and Repair - Day 10: Automatic Transaxle Electronic Controls
- Day 11: HVAC System Diagnosis and Repair, and Plant Tour - Day 12: Engine Mechanical Diagnosis and Repair - Day 13: Engine Mechanical Diagnosis and Repair - Day 14: Engine Electronic Controls and Powertrain Management Diagnosis - Day 15: Diagnostic Lab Exercises, Final Review, and Graduation
Schedule: To accommodate the requests for split classes, the following incorporate a naturally occurring break.
