Leather Shift Boot/Knob Substituted For Plastic - keywords 07 AB accessory knob leather manual shifter

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

When performing a PDI a technician may find a leather shift knob and boot has been installed on a vehicle that they suspect was built incorrectly. They may state that the upgrade is not listed on the manifest. They may state that this is an uplevel feature not normally found on this model.

Saturn has implemented an inventory reduction of extra leather knobs and boots by installing these parts on a sequence of manual transmission cars ONLY until the stock is exhausted. (approximately 58 vehicles) This is to be considered a normal build without additional cost to retailers or consumers. Service parts will still be available, as this is just a plant stock reduction as we build the final IONs. The manifest and sequencing sheets will not be changed to reflect the substitution of shifters.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
