Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1940497  Size: LH
  1. Remove the front floor console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement .
  2. Remove the adjusting nut (1) from the parking brake cable.
  3. Hold the parking brake cable with the pliers at the bottom end of the threaded studs (3) and release from the cable guide if necessary.
  4. Remove the front exhaust pipe and the mid muffler. Refer to Mid Muffler Replacement
  5. Remove the heat shield of the mid muffler from the vehicle underbody.
  6. Remove the 7 nuts (4).

  7. Turn the front end of the parking brake cables (6) 90 degrees and remove from the parking brake cable compensator.
  8. Remove the protective sleeves (2) for the front parking brake cable from the parking brake lever support plate.
  9. Pull the front end of the parking brake cable out of the protective sleeve.

Installation Procedure

  1. Pull the front end of the parking brake cable into the protective sleeve.
  2. Install the protective sleeves (4) to the parking brake lever support plate.
  3. Important: 

       • Ensure that the T-piece at the front end of the parking brake cable is seated correctly in the parking brake cable compensator (arrow).
       • This avoids accidental displacement and releasing of the front of the parking brake cable. Ensure that the centre of the parking brake cable is seated in the mountings (1).

  4. Install the parking brake cables (2) into the parking brake cable compensator and twist by 90 degrees.
  5. Push the protective sleeve for the front of the parking brake cables (4) in the direction of the parking brake cable compensator until it passes over the bulges (3) on the parking brake cable.

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  6. Install the heat shields (7) of the mid muffler to the vehicle underbody (arrows).
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  8. Install the front exhaust pipes (5) and the mid muffler (6). Refer to Mid Muffler Replacement .
  9. Install the front of the parking brake cable on to the parking brake lever.
  10. Screw in the adjusting nut loosely.
  11. Install the front floor console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement .
  12. Adjust the parking brake lever path. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment .
