Removal Procedure
- Remove the upper I/P panel. Refer to
Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement
.
- Remove the lower I/P panel. Refer to
Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Replacement
.
- Disengage the wire harness clamps.
- Remove the instrument panel pad lower bolts (12).
- Remove the instrument panel pad lower (11).
- Remove ground cable.
- Remove the I/P center support braces (6, 9). Refer to
Instrument Panel Center Support Bracket Replacement
.
- Remove the windshield defroster nozzle duct from the heater case assembly.
- Remove the following retainers from the instrument panel reinforcement
at the hinge pillars:
- Route out harness and remove the instrument panel reinforcement (4) from
the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the I/P reinforcement (4) to the vehicle. Secure the reinforcement
with the following fasteners:
Tighten
Tighten the instrument panel reinforcement bolts and nuts to 28 N·m
(21 lb ft).
- Reroute harness through the I/P reinforcement.
- Install the windshield defroster nozzle duct to the heater case assembly.
- Install the I/P center support braces. Refer to
Instrument Panel Center Support Bracket Replacement
.
- Install the ground cable.
- Install the instrument panel pad lower (11) to the carrier support (4)
and secure the lower pad with the bolts (12).
- Connect the wire harness clamps.
- Install the lower I/P panel. Refer to
Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Replacement
.
- Install the upper I/P panel. Refer to
Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement
.
