Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 824983 Size: SH
  1. Open the liftgate.
  2. Remove the lift gate trim panel. Refer to Liftgate Trim Panel Replacement .
  3. Remove the lift gate handle (1). Refer to Liftgate Outside Handle Replacement .
  4. Remove the lift gate lock cylinder (2). Refer to Liftgate Lock Cylinder Replacement .
  5. Remove the lift gate applique nut (4).
  6. Remove the lift gate applique (3).

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 824983 Size: SH
  1. Install the lift gate applique (3) to the lift gate.

    2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  2. Install the lift gate applique nut (4).

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the lift gate applique nut to 4.0 N·m (35 lb in).

  3. Install the lift gate lock cylinder (2). Refer to Liftgate Lock Cylinder Replacement .
  4. Install the lift gate handle (1). Refer to Liftgate Outside Handle Replacement .
  5. Install the lift gate trim panel. Refer to Liftgate Trim Panel Replacement .
  6. Close lift gate.
