Removal Procedure
Tools Required
J 39232 Wiper Transmission
Separator
- Remove the wiper arm assemblies
from the wiper transmission assembly drive shafts. Refer to
Windshield Wiper Arm Replacement
.
- Remove the air inlet screen assembly from the vehicle. Refer to
Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement
.
- Remove the connector from the wiper motor assembly.
- Remove the wiper transmission assembly from wiper motor crank
arm assembly using the J 39232
Wiper Transmission Separator.
- Remove three screws and
the wiper drive system module from the vehicle.
- Remove three grommets from the tube frame.
- Remove two caps from the
wiper transmission assembly.
- Remove four screws and the wiper transmission assembly from the
tube frame.
- Remove the wiper motor assembly and crank arm from the tube frame.

Installation Procedure
Tools Required
J 39529 Wiper Transmission
Installer
- Install the wiper motor
assembly and crank arm onto the tube frame. Refer to
Windshield Wiper Motor Replacement
.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the wiper
transmission assembly on the tube frame with four screws.
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
- Install two new caps onto the wiper transmission assembly.
- Install three grommets
onto the tube frame.

must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant

- Install the wiper
drive system module on the vehicle with three screws.
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 10 N·m (88 lb in).
- Install the wiper transmission
assembly on the wiper motor crank arm assembly using the J 39529
Wiper Transmission Installer.
- Install the connector onto the wiper motor assembly.
- Install the air inlet screen assembly on the vehicle. Refer to
Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement
.
- Install the wiper arm assemblies onto the wiper transmission assembly
drive shafts. Refer to
Windshield Wiper Arm Replacement
.
- Operate the wipers and check for proper operation.
