Removal Procedure
- Block the wheels.
- Remove the bolts (5)
from the brake pedal bracket (3).
- Tilt the cab. Refer to
Cab Tilting
in General Information.
- Remove the left wheelhouse panel. Refer to
Wheelhouse Panel Replacement - Upper
and to
Wheelhouse Panel Replacement - Lower
in Body Front End.
- Loosen the lock nut (9) on the brake pedal joint.
- Turn the dual application valve push rod until the rod is free
if the brake pedal joint nut (10).
- Lower the cab. Refer to
Cab Tilting
in General Information.
- Remove the brake pedal.
Installation Procedure
- Loosely fit the brake
pedal into position.
- Tilt the cab. Refer to
Cab Tilting
in General Information.
- Loosely assemble the dual
application valve push rod into the brake pedal joint nut (10).
- Lower the cab. Refer to
Cab Tilting
in General Information.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the bolts (5) to the brake pedal bracket (3).
Tighten
• | Tighten the 6-mm bolts to 8 N·m (71 lb in). |
• | Tighten the 8-mm bolts to 19 N·m (14 lb ft). |
- Tilt the cab. Refer to
Cab Tilting
in General Information.
- Pull up the top of the brake pedal until the pedal is in contact
with the stopper on the return side, while turning the brake pedal joint.
Adjust the park pedal to an end play of 5.25-5 mm
(0.206-0.182 in).
Tighten
Tighten the lock nut (9) on the brake pedal joint to 62 N·m
(46 lb ft).
- Verify that the end play is 5.25-5 mm (0.206-0.182 in).
- Install the left wheelhouse panel. Refer to
Wheelhouse Panel Replacement - Upper
and to
Wheelhouse Panel Replacement - Lower
in Body Front
End.
- Lower the cab.
- Perform the air leak test. Refer to
Air Brake System Leak Test
.
