Exhaust Manifold Replacement Right

1. Disconnect the spark plug wires from the spark plugs. Refer to Spark Plug Wire Harness Replacement in Engine Electrical.
2. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.



3. Disconnect the exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Pipe Replacement in Engine Exhaust.
4. Remove the front tire to gain access to the rear exhaust manifold bolts, if necessary. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
5. Remove the exhaust manifold bolts.
6. Lower the vehicle.



7. Remove the exhaust manifold and the spark plug wire shields from the engine. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Removal (Right) .
8. Clean all gasket surfaces. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Cleaning and Inspection and Cylinder Head Cleaning and Inspection .

1. Position the exhaust manifold by the engine.
2. Sub-assemble the spark plug wire shields, the bolts, the NEW exhaust manifold and exhaust manifold gaskets.
3. Raise the vehicle.
4. Install the exhaust manifold to the engine. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Installation (Right) .



5. Connect the exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Pipe Replacement in Engine Exhaust.
6. Install the front tire, if removed. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Wheels and Tires.
7. Lower the vehicle.
8. Connect the spark plug wires to the spark plugs. Refer to Spark Plug Wire Harness Replacement in Engine Electrical.

Exhaust Manifold Replacement Left

1. Disconnect the the PCV tube from the air cleaner outlet duct.
2. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct from the throttle body. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement in Engine Controls.
3. Disconnect the spark plug wires from the spark plugs. Refer to Spark Plug Wire Harness Replacement in Engine Electrical.
4. Disconnect the engine cooling temperature (ECT) sensor electrical connector.



5. Disconnect the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve inlet pipe from the exhaust manifold.
6. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.



7. Disconnect the exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Pipe Replacement
8. Remove the left front tire. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.



9. Remove the exhaust manifold bolts and stud.
10. Remove the spark plug wire shields.
11. Lower the vehicle.
12. Remove the exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Removal (Left) .
13. Clean all gasket surfaces. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Cleaning and Inspection and Cylinder Head Cleaning and Inspection .

1. Position the exhaust manifold by the engine.
2. Sub-assemble the spark plug wire shields, the bolts, the NEW exhaust manifold gaskets to the exhaust manifold.
3. Install the exhaust manifold to the engine. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Installation (Left) .
4. Raise the vehicle.



5. Connect the exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Pipe Replacement in Engine Exhaust.
6. Install the left front tire. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
7. Lower the vehicle.
8. Connect the spark plug wires to the spark plugs. Refer to Spark Plug Wire Harness Replacement in Engine Electrical.
9. Connect the engine cooling temperature (ECT) sensor electrical connector.



10. Connect the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve inlet pipe nut to the exhaust manifold.

Tighten
Tighten the EGR valve inlet pipe exhaust manifold nut to 30N·m  (22 lb ft).

11. Install the air cleaner outlet duct to the throttle body. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement in Engine Controls.
12. Connect the the PCV tube to the air cleaner outlet duct.
