Verify that the left front power mirror is inoperative.

Is the left front power mirror inoperative?

Go to Step 3

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

1. Move the power mirror select switch to the LEFT position.
2. Backprobe the power mirror switch connector with a test lamp from cavity 8 to cavity 6.
3. Move the power mirror switch to the LEFT position and then to the RIGHT position.

Does the test lamp light with the switch in both positions?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 5

1. Backprobe the power mirror switch connector with a test lamp from cavity 4 to cavity 6.
2. Move the power mirror switch to the UP position and then to the DOWN position.

Does the test lamp light in both directions?

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 5

Replace the power mirror switch. Refer to Power Mirror Switch Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 13

1. Backprobe the power mirror motor connector with a test lamp from cavity 2 to cavity 3.
2. Move the power mirror switch to the LEFT position.

Does the test lamp light?

Go to Step 10

Go to Step 7

1. Backprobe the power mirror motor connector with a test lamp from cavity 2 to ground.
2. Move the power mirror switch to the LEFT position.

Does the test lamp light?

Go to Step 9

Go to Step 8

Repair the open in the LT GRN/BLK wire between the power mirror switch and the left front power mirror motor. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 13

Repair the open in the GRY wire between S243 and the left front power mirror motor. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 13

1. Backprobe the power mirror motor connector with a test lamp from cavity 1 to ground.
2. Move the power mirror switch to the DOWN position.

Does the test lamp light?

Go to Step 12

Go to Step 11

Repair the open in the BRN/YEL wire between the power mirror switch and the left front power mirror motor. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 13

Replace the left front power mirror motor assembly. Refer to Power Mirror Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 13

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
