Verify that the lock system does not lock.

Does the lock system lock?

System OK

Go to Step 3

Rotate the steering wheel and attempt to turn the key to the LOCK position.

Are you able to turn the key to the LOCK position?

System OK

Inspect the lock cylinder case for damage.

Is the lock cylinder case damaged?

Inspect the lock cylinder for damage.

Is the lock cylinder damaged?

Inspect the ignition switch for damage.

Is the ignition switch damaged?

Test the ignition lock cylinder solenoid supply voltage circuit for battery voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Test the ignition lock cylinder solenoid supply voltage circuit for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the ignition lock cylinder solenoid ground circuit for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
