Removal Procedure

  1. Unlatch the folding top. Refer to Power Folding Top Operation .
  2. Raise the folding top off the windshield header to a suitable working height. Refer to Power Folding Top Operation .
  3. Remove the No. 2 bow strap.
  4. Peel the retainer from the tie bow.

  5. Remove the headliner at the rear rail. Refer to Folding Top Headlining Trim Panel Replacement .

  6. Object Number: 299294  Size: SH
  7. Remove the the screws, the washers, and the bushings from the control link assembly (11).
  8. Remove the bolt, and the washer from the central link and the rear rail.
  9. Remove the bolt (10) from the control link assembly (11), and the center rail (8).
  10. Remove the bolt (10) from the control link assembly (11), and the front rail (9).
  11. Remove the control link assembly.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the control link assembly.

  2. Object Number: 299294  Size: SH
  3. Apply Loctite (P/N 242 or the equivalent) to the bolt threads.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the bolt (10) to the control link assembly (11), and the front rail (9).
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt (10) to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).

  7. Apply Loctite (P/N 242 or the equivalent) to the bolt threads.
  8. Install the bolt (10) to the control link assembly (11), and the center rail (8).
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt (10) to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).

  10. Apply Loctite (P/N 242 or the equivalent) to the bolt threads.
  11. Install the bolt (4) to the control link assembly (11), and the rear rail (7)
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt (4) to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).

  13. Apply Loctite (P/N 242 or the equivalent) to the screw threads.
  14. Install the bushings (1), the washers (2), and the screws (3) to the control link assembly (11).
  15. Install the No. 2 bow strap.
  16. Ensure the unit is retained.

  17. Cycle the folding top.
  18. Inspect the folding top to ensure proper operation and appearance.
