Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the right and the left quarter trim panels. Refer to Rear Quarter Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.

  2. Object Number: 299111  Size: SH
  3. Remove the screws (6) that retain the headliner at the quarter inner structure.
  4. Remove the screws (6) that retain the headliner to the closeout panel below the backlite.
  5. Unlatch the folding top. Refer to Power Folding Top Operation .
  6. Lower the folding top to the halfway position. Refer to Power Folding Top Operation .
  7. Remove the retainers on both corners (9) that secure the elastic strap to the No. 1 bow.
  8. Release the headliner dual lock (8) retainers at the No. 1 bow.
  9. Remove the rear rail weatherstrip and the retainer. Refer to Folding Top Weatherstrip Replacement and Folding Top Weatherstrip Retainer Replacement .
  10. Peel the headliner (1) from the rear rail.
  11. Remove the No. 2 bow retainer (2) from the No. 2 bow.
  12. Important: Start this step from one side of the folding top.

  13. Pry the retainer loose with a small flat - bladed tool.
  14. Remove the No. 3 bow retainer (3) from the No. 3 bow.
  15. Important: Start this step from one side of the folding top.

  16. Pry the retainer loose with a small flat - bladed tool.
  17. Pull the headliner (1) to one side in order to slide the No. 4 bow retainer (4) out of the No. 4 bow.

Installation Procedure

  1. Slide the No. 4 bow retainer (4) into the lower groove of the No. 4 bow.
  2. Ensure that the unit is retained.

    Center the retainer in the No. 4 bow.

  3. Install the No. 3 bow retainer (3) to the No. 3 bow.
  4. Ensure that the unit is retained.

    Center the retainer on the No. 3 bow.

  5. Install the No. 2 bow retainer (2) the No. 2 bow.
  6. Ensure that the unit is retained.

    Center the retainer on the No. 2 bow.

  7. Secure the headliner dual lock retainers  (8) to the No. 1 bow.
  8. Apply adhesive to the rear rail.
  9. Pull the headliner into position over the rear rail, and press into place.
  10. Start at the center of the headliner

  11. Install the rear rail weatherstrip and the retainer. Refer to Folding Top Weatherstrip Replacement and Folding Top Weatherstrip Retainer Replacement .
  12. Install the retainer (9) in order to secure the elastic strap to the No. 1 bow.
  13. Raise the power folding top.
  14. Do not latch the power folding top.

  15. Install the screws (6) in order to retain the headliner (1) to the closeout panel below the glass backlite.
  16. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  17. Install the screws (6) in order to retain the headliner (1) to the quarter inner structure and the rear rail.
  18. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  19. Install the right and the left quarter trim panels. Refer to Rear Quarter Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
  20. Raise the folding top. Refer to Power Folding Top Operation .
  21. Latch the folding top. Refer to Power Folding Top Operation .
  22. Inspect the headliner in order to verify the headliner's proper condition.
  23. The headliner should be free from wrinkles.
