Condition

Action

The power steering gear inlet (pressure) hose is grounding out.

Inspect the power steering gear inlet (pressure) hose. Determine if the following items are correct:

    • The mounting
    • The clearance

Refer to Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement .

The rack bearing adjust is loose.

Tighten the rack bearing adjust to specification.

Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications .

The steering gear is loose.

Tighten the steering gear mounting bolts to specification.

Refer to Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement or.

The tie rod ends are loose.

  1. Inspect the tie rod ends.
  2. Replace the tie rod ends as needed.

Refer to Rack and Pinion Outer Tie Rod End Replacement .

The intermediate steering shaft is loose.

Tighten the upper or lower intermediate steering shaft bolt to specification.

Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications .
