order to separate all the tie rods.
- Remove the front tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
in Tires and Wheels.
- Remove the nut (5)
from the outer tie rod ball stud (4).
- Loosen the jam nut (2).
- Use the J 24319-B
in order to remove the outer tie rod
ball stud from the steering knuckle.
- Remove the tie rod end (4)
from the shaft (1).

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the new
prevailing torque nut (5) to the outer tie rod ball stud (4).
Tighten
Tighten the new prevailing torque nut to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).
