Steering Linkage and Tie Rod Puller
Removal Procedure
- Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
- Loosen the steering linkage inner tie rod nut (1).
- Remove the steering linkage outer tie rod nut.
Discard the nut.
- Disconnect the steering linkage outer tie rod from the steering knuckle using the
J 24319-B
.
Important: Note the number of complete turns necessary in order to remove the steering linkage outer tie rod.
- Remove the steering linkage outer tie rod from the steering linkage inner tie rod.
Installation Procedure
Important: Install the steering linkage outer tie rod the same number of complete turns as noted in the removal.
- Install the steering linkage outer tie rod to the steering linkage inner tie rod.
- Install the steering linkage outer tie rod to the steering knuckle.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install a NEW steering linkage outer tie rod nut.
Tighten
- Tighten the steering linkage outer tie rod nut to 35 N·m (26 lb ft).
- Tighten the steering linkage outer tie rod nut an additional 110 degrees.
- Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
- Adjust the front toe. refer to
Wheel Alignment - Steering Wheel Angle and/or Front Toe Adjustment.
- Tighten the steering linkage inner tie rod nut.
Tighten
Tighten the steering linkage inner tie rod nut to 65 N·m (48 lb ft).

Removal Procedure
- Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
- Remove the steering linkage outer tie rod nut.
Discard the nut.
- Disconnect the steering linkage outer tie rod from the steering knuckle using the
J 24319-B
.
- Loosen the steering linkage inner tie rod nut (1).
Important: Note the number of complete turns necessary in order to remove the steering linkage outer tie rod (2).
- Remove the steering linkage outer tie rod from the steering linkage inner tie rod (3).
- Remove the steering linkage inner tie rod nut from the steering linkage outer tie rod.
Discard the nut.
Installation Procedure
- Install a NEW steering linkage inner tie rod nut (1) to the steering linkage outer tie rod (2).
Important: Install the steering linkage outer tie rod the same number of complete turns as noted in the removal.
- Install the steering linkage outer tie rod to the steering linkage inner tie rod (3).
- Install the steering linkage outer tie rod to the steering knuckle.

- Install a NEW steering linkage outer tie rod nut.
Tighten
- Tighten the steering linkage outer tie rod nut to 35 N·m (26 lb ft).
