Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 161106  Size: SH
  1. Remove the wiring harness shield nut. Refer to Wiring Harness Shield Replacement .
  2. Remove the wiring harness shield.
  3. Disconnect the vacuum line at the vacuum modulator. Refer to Vacuum Modulator Pipe Replacement .

  4. Object Number: 10486  Size: SH
  5. Remove the attaching bolt (30) and the clamp (31) at the modulator base.
  6. Remove the vacuum modulator (32). Use care to avoid losing the modulator valve (34) from the transaxle case.
  7. Remove the O-ring seal (33).
  8. To inspect the vacuum modulator refer to Vacuum Modulator Diagnosis .

Installation Procedure

  1. If removed, install the modulator valve (34).

  2. Object Number: 13051  Size: SH
  3. Install the new O-ring seal (33).
  4. Install the vacuum modulator (32).
  5. Install the clamp (31).
  6. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Install the attaching bolt (30).
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the attaching bolt to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  9. Connect the vacuum line at the vacuum modulator. Refer to Vacuum Modulator Pipe Replacement .

  11. Install the wiring harness shield. Refer to Wiring Harness Shield Replacement .
  12. Install the wiring harness shield nut.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the wiring harness shield nut to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).
