The Compass Has Been Deleted From The DIC - keywords center cluster driver information inoperative IPC missing

This PI was superceded to include the date for vehicles built prior to 11/9/07 that do not have the compass. Please discard PIT4415.

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

The compass does not display in the driver information center (DIC). Vehicles built prior to 11/09/2007 did not have a compass. Starting on 11/09/2007 these vehicles are being built with the compass.

If the vehicle in question was built prior to 11/09/2007, do not try to repair a compass concern since the vehicle did not come with a compass. We can not add the compass option to vehicles built prior to 11/09/2007.

The owner manual page 3-47 and page 4 of getting to know your VUE brochure states the compass displays in the DIC. Due to the timing of the compass delete, the owner's manual and getting to know your VUE brochures were already printed and could not be changed. The owner's manual has a disclaimer at the front of the manual "This manual includes the latest information at the time it was printed. We reserve the right to make changes after that time without further notice."

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
