Identifying A PK3+ Ignition Key - keywords cylinder lock passkey III security theft deterrent

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

How to identify a Passkey III+ (PK3+) ignition key. The information in SI states "The keys are identified by + symbol in a circle stamped into the steel shank of the key." The PK3+ Key for the 2008 Saturn VUE does not have the circle with the + inside a circle stamped into the steel shank of the key.

The Key will have a black head with the Saturn logo stamp on the head of the key. All Master ignition keys should be purchased from Saturn Parts. The + symbol inside a circle will be stamped into the key in future production of the ignition key.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
