Owner Manual Correction - 2.4L Fuel Octane Requirement - Use 87 Octane Regular Unleaded

The purpose of this bulletin is to inform Saturn retailers of a printing error in the 2008 Saturn VUE Owner Manual. Section 5, page 5 indicates that the 2.4L LE5 engine requires the use of 91 Octane "Premium Unleaded Fuel". This is an error.

With the second printing of the Owner Manual, this paragraph will be revised and merged to adjacent paragraphs to read:

"If your vehicle has the 2.4L L4 engine (VIN Code P) or the 3.5L V6 engine (VIN Code N), use regular unleaded gasoline with a posted octane rating of 87 or higher. If the octane rating is less than 87, you might notice an audible knocking noise when you drive, commonly referred to as spark knock. If this occurs, use a gasoline rated at 87 octane or higher as soon as possible. If you are using gasoline rated at 87 octane or higher and you hear heavy knocking, the engine needs service."

Until this Owner Manual revision, a loose page will be inserted into each vehicle at the time of manufacture. A copy of the insert is shown below. It is expected this will be effective for vehicles built in July 2007 and after. This information may also be used by the Saturn Retailers to communicate this error to Saturn VUE prospects and customers.
