Removal Procedure

  1. Place the park brake lever in the released position.
  2. Disable the supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR) system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling.
  3. Remove the front floor console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement.

  4. Object Number: 1876516  Size: SH
  5. Disconnect the park brake warning lamp switch electrical connector (1).

  6. Object Number: 1876517  Size: SH
  7. Using ONLY hand tools, loosen the park brake cable adjustment nut (1).

  8. Object Number: 1876518  Size: SH
  9. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  10. Release the left rear park brake cable (1) and the right rear park brake cable (2) from the equalizer.
  11. Lower the vehicle.

  13. Remove the 2 front park brake cable guide nuts (1).

  14. Object Number: 1876520  Size: SH
  15. Remove the 4 park brake lever assembly nuts (1).
  16. Remove the park brake lever assembly from the vehicle while guiding the front park brake cable and equalizer through the floor panel.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1876520  Size: SH
  1. Install the park brake lever assembly to the vehicle while guiding the front park brake cable and equalizer through the floor panel.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the 4 park brake lever assembly nuts (1).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  5. Install the 2 front park brake cable guide nuts (1).
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  7. Raise and support the vehicle.
  8. Install the left rear park brake cable (1) and the right rear park brake cable (2) to the equalizer.
  9. Adjust the park brake. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment.
  10. Install the front floor console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement.
  11. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling.
