The eSI website will be updated immediately and future Service Stall System SI CD releases will include this and other service manual updates.
Please obtain all copies of the 2004 VUE Service Manual, Vol. 1 at your facility. On page 0-39 in the General Information section, please cross out the "GM Oil Life System - Resetting" information. Make copies of the following information and insert to page 0-39.
RESETTING PROCEDURE (SI Document ID #1088103)
The GM Oil Life System calculates when to change the engine oil and filter, based on the vehicle use. Anytime the oil is changed, reset the system so the next required oil change can be calculated. If the oil is changed before the Change Engine Oil light turns on, reset the system.
After changing the engine oil, perform the following steps:
If the Change Engine Oil light flashes, the system has been reset. The light will flash for up to 30 seconds or until the ignition is turned OFF.
If the light comes on again and stays on for 30 seconds at the next ignition cycle, the system did not reset. Repeat the resetting procedure.
