J 36346 Fascia Retainer Remover

Removal Procedure

    Notice: The control cable must be disconnected from the transaxle range switch lever prior to disconnecting it from the control cable bracket. Otherwise damage to the manual shift shaft may result, requiring transaxle disassembly.

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  3. Remove the left splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement in Body Front End.
  4. Remove the range selective lever bolt and cover.
  5. Using the J 36346 , disconnect the control cable from the transaxle range switch lever.

  6. Object Number: 1233354  Size: SH
  7. Remove the transaxle range switch lever nut (4), lock nut (3), washer (2), and lever (1).

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  1. Install the transaxle range switch lever (1), washer (2) lock washer (3), and lever nut (4).
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the transaxle range switch lever nut to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  3. Snap the cable end fitting onto the ball stud of the transaxle range switch lever. An audible snap will be heard when properly installed.
  4. Install the battery tray and bracket. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  5. Install the battery. Refer to Battery Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  6. Install the range selective lever bolt and cover.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  8. Install the left splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement in Body Front End.
  9. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  10. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
