Removal Procedure
Caution: To avoid any vehicle damage, serious personal injury or death when major components are removed from the vehicle and the vehicle is supported by a
hoist, support the vehicle with jack stands at the opposite end from which the components are being removed and strap the vehicle to the hoist.
- Raise the vehicle
on hoist.
- Remove the wheel and tire assembly.
- Disconnect the brake hose from the caliper or wheel cylinder. Plug the

- Disconnect the brake hose from the brake pipe. Plug the opening in the
brake pipe to avoid fluid loss and contamination.
Installation Procedure
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the brake hose to the brake pipe.
Tighten
Tighten the fastener to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install the brake hose to the caliper or wheel cylinder with new washers.
Tighten
Tighten the washers to 49 N·m (36 lb ft).
- Bleed the brakes. Refer to
Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding
.
- Check the connections for fluid leaks.
Notice: Before installing wheels, remove rust or corrosion from wheel mounting surfaces
and brake rotors/drums. Failure to do so can cause wheel nuts to loosen in service.
- Position the wheel onto the hub.
- Install the wheel nuts and tighten in a crisscross pattern. Repeat the
tightening pattern to be sure the torque is correct.
Tighten
Tighten the wheel nuts to 140 N·m (103 lb ft).
- Lower the vehicle from the hoist.
