Tools Required
SA9102E-A Valve Seal Remover/Replacer
- Remove the intake and exhaust manifolds.
1.1. | Remove the spark plugs. |
1.2. | Remove the 9 intake and 7 exhaust manifold mounting nuts
and stud. |
1.3. | If the cylinder head studs come out, nuts should be removed from the studs,
threads cleaned, and studs carefully installed. |
Tighten
Tighten the studs to 13 N·m (115 lb in).
- Remove the hydraulic lifters. A magnet will easily
pull the lifter out of its bore. Do not use pliers or a sharp object. keep the lifters
in order.
- Remove the valves and stem seals.
| Notice: Be careful not to damage valve stems during cap and retainer removal.

remove the valve spring cap retainers. |
3.2. | Remove the caps, springs, and valves. |
| Important: Arrange the disassembled caps, seals, springs,
and valves in the correct order.

3.3. | Using the SA9102E-A
, remove the valve stem
oil seal. |
