The wiring circuits in your vehicle are protected from short circuits by fuses. This greatly reduces the chance of circuit overload and fires caused by electrical problems.
There are two fuse blocks called "junction blocks," one is the "underhood junction block," the other is the "instrument panel junction block." To identify and check fuses and relays, refer to the Fuse Usage Chart inside the fuse panel door, near the passenger's left leg for the instrument panel junction block. Remove the fuse panel door to access the fuse and relays.
The underhood junction block is located in the forward part of the engine compartment near the battery. Six spare minifuses and a fuse-puller are located in the underhood junction block. These spare minifuses can be used to replace underhood and instrument panel junction block minifuses.
Replace spare fuses as they are used as soon as you can. To identify and check fuses and relays, refer to the fuse and relay usage chart inside the fuse block cover. To remove a fuse, place the wide end of the fuse puller over the plastic end of the fuse. Squeeze the ends over the fuse and pull the fuse out. A fuse puller is also located on the instrument panel junction block panel access door.
Look at the silver-colored band inside the fuse. If the band is broken or melted, replace the fuse. Be sure you replace a bad fuse with a new one of the same amperage.
