It is important to perform these underhood checks at each fuel fill.

Engine Oil Level Check: Check the engine oil level. Add the proper oil if necessary. Refer to Section 6 of the Owner Manual portion of your Owner's Handbook for further details.

Engine Coolant Level and Condition: Check the engine coolant level in the coolant surge tank. Add proper coolant if necessary. Replace the coolant if it is dirty or has rusty appearance. Refer to Section 6 of the Owner Manual portion of your Owner's Handbook for further details.

Fluid Level Check: The following fluid levels should be checked visually:

    • Windshield and Wagon Rear Window Washer Fluid
    • Brake Fluid
    • Power Steering Fluid
    • Coolant

Add the proper fluid as needed.

Tire Inspection: Check the tires for damage, adequate inflation, and wear. If they need air, inflate as necessary. If they show damage or wear, replace or wear, replace or rotate as necessary.

Hood Latch Operation: When opening the hood, note the operation of the secondary latch. It should keep the hood from opening all the way when the primary latch is released. Make sure the hood locks securely into place when it is closed. If it does not, service as necessary.
