It is important to perform these underhood checks at each fuel fill.
Check the engine oil level and add the proper oil if necessary. See Engine Oil for further details.
Notice: It is important to check the engine oil regularly and keep it at the proper level. Failure to keep the engine oil at the proper level can cause damage to the engine not covered by the vehicle warranty.
Check the engine coolant level and add DEX-COOL coolant mixture if necessary. See Engine Coolant for further details.
The following fluid levels should be checked visually:
• | Windshield and Wagon Rear Window Washer Fluid |
• | Brake Fluid |
• | Power Steering Fluid |
• | Coolant |
Add the proper fluid as needed.
Check the tires for damage, adequate inflation, and wear. If they need air, inflate as necessary. If they show damage or wear, replace or wear, replace or rotate as necessary.
When opening the hood, note the operation of the secondary latch. It should keep the hood from opening all the way when the primary latch is released. Make sure the hood locks securely into place when it is closed. If it does not, service as necessary.
