The tank pressure sensor is a 3-wire strain gage sensor that responds to changes in pressure in the fuel tank. The sensor measures the difference between the air pressure, or vacuum, in the fuel tank and the ambient air pressure. When air pressure in the fuel tank is equal to outside air pressure, such as the fuel fill cap is removed, the output of the sensor will be 1.3-1.7 volts.
DTC P0452 will set if the signal voltage is below 0.1 volts for greater than 3 seconds.
An intermittent open in the signal or 5V REF harnesses/connections will set a DTC P0452. Intermittent connections can be diagnosed using a scan tool by moving the harnesses/connectors and harnesses while monitoring tank pressure voltage.
