Fuses

CHIME FUSE

    • Location: Instrument Panel Junction Block
    • Type: 10A Minifuse
    • Circuit 440

If one of the following systems is operating properly, the fuse is most likely good:

    • Liftgate ajar telltale (SW only)
    • Chime module
    • Radio (display and station presets)

If the fuse is blown, determine the cause of the blown fuse and repair.

Replace the fuse as needed.

HAZARD FUSE

    • Location: Underhood Junction Block
    • Type: 10A Minifuse
    • Circuit 1040

If one of the following systems is operating properly, the fuse is most likely good:

    • Cluster high beam telltale
    • Hazard flashers

If the fuse is blown, determine the cause of the blown fuse and repair.

Replace the fuse as needed.

Grounds

I/P SPLICE PACK #1

Location: Taped to harness behind I/P cluster.

The system grounded by the I/P splice pack #1 is grounded redundantly with I/P Splice Pack #2 at ground point location D (I/P chassis ground). If one of the following systems is operating normally, the ground circuit is most likely good.

    • Automatic transaxle shift program switch
    • I/P dimmer
    • Cruise control
    • Headlamp switch
    • Cigar lighter element

Check for OPENS/SHORTS.

Replace the fuse as needed.

I/P SPLICE PACK #2

Location: Taped to harness behind I/P cluster.

The system grounded by the I/P splice pack #2 is grounded redundantly with I/P Splice Pack #1 at ground point location C (I/P chassis ground). If one of the following systems is operating normally, the ground circuit is most likely good.

    • I/P cluster
    • Park brake switch
    • Wiper motor
    • Radio

Check for OPENS/SHORTS.

Replace the fuse as needed.

Circuits

CIRCUIT 33

Function: This circuit provides a ground to the control module and the low brake fluid switch. The ABS control module will turn the telltale ON when a condition that will effect the base braking system has been detected. The low brake fluid switch is closed when the brake fluid level in the brake fluid reservoir is low.

This circuit is monitored by the ABS control module for an open or short to voltage. If one of these faults exists the ABS control module will set DTC 87.

CIRCUIT 25

Function: This circuit provides a signal to the I/P cluster from the generator. The generator will turn the telltale ON under several conditions, such as a no charge condition.

Check the charge telltale ground circuit for opens or shorts to ground. Turn the ignition to Run with the engine ON. If the charge telltale comes ON and stays lit with the engine running, the circuit is shorted to ground or the generator is at fault. If the charge telltale does not come ON the circuit is open, the generator is at fault or the cluster or bulb is at fault. Jumper cluster cavity N to E (CKT 350). If the charge telltale light comes ON, then it is operating properly.

Check for OPENS/SHORTS.

Replace the fuse as needed.

CIRCUIT 875

Function: This circuit is used by the ABS control module to control the ABS telltale control logic and ABS telltale. When grounded the ABS telltale is OFF, and when ungrounded the ABS telltale is ON. This circuit is monitored by the ABS control module for an open, short to ground or short to voltage. If one of these faults exists the ABS control module will set DTC 11.

CIRCUIT 1200

Function: This circuit provides ground for the high beam telltale and the DRL logic when the high beam headlamps have been activated by the headlamp switch (HI or Flash-To-Pass). This ground input will turn ON the hi beam telltale for as long as the High Beam headlamps are ON.

Check the HI beam telltale ground circuit for opens or shorts to ground. Check telltale power circuit first. If the hazard lamps work the power circuit is OK.

With headlamp switch in HI beam position the Hi beam telltale should be ON. If the telltale is not ON the circuit is open or the headlamp switch, I/P cluster or bulb is at fault. Using a fused jumper, jumper I/P cluster cavity N to E (circuit 350T). If the telltale comes on the cluster and bulb are OK. If the telltale does not come ON, check the bulb, and if the bulb is OK, replace the I/P cluster.

With the headlamp switch in the LO beam position, the Hi beam telltale should be OFF. If the telltale is ON, then circuit 1200 is shorted to ground or the cluster is at fault. Check the circuit for a short to ground and if OK, replace the I/P cluster.

CIRCUIT 1414

Function: This circuit provides a pulsing signal to the I/P cluster to operate the left turn indicator.

The left turn indicator power circuit should be checked for opens. Test the voltage on the circuit at the cluster harness connector with the ignition in Run. The voltage should be battery voltage when the turn signal is ON.

Check for OPENS/SHORTS.

Replace the fuse as needed.

CIRCUIT 1415

Function: This circuit provides a pulsing signal to the I/P cluster to operate the right turn indicator.

The right turn indicator power circuit should be checked for opens. Test the voltage on the circuit at the cluster harness connector with the ignition in Run. The voltage should be battery voltage when the turn signal is ON.

Check for OPENS/SHORTS.

Replace the fuse as needed.

CIRCUIT 389

Function: This circuit provides a pulsing signal, that is proportional to vehicle speed, to the I/P cluster.

CIRCUIT 1134

Function: This circuit provides a pulsing signal to the I/P cluster from the park brake switch. The switch is closed (grounding the BRAKE telltale) with the park brake applied.

Check the park brake circuit by turning the ignition to Run with the park brake OFF. If the BRAKE telltale comes ON then circuit 1134, the I/P cluster or circuit 33 (and related components) is at fault.

Repair as needed.

CIRCUIT 237

Function: This circuit provides a pulsing signal to the I/P cluster from the chime module, located in the I/PJB, to operate the seat belt telltale.

Check the seat belt telltale ground circuit for opens and shorts to ground. Leave the driver's belt unbuckled and turn the ignition switch to Run. If the seat belt telltale does not come ON, circuit 237A, I/P cluster or bulb, chime module or the driver's seat belt switch circuit is at fault. Disconnect the chime module and jumper I/P cluster cavity G to E (circuit 350T). If the seat belt telltale is always ON even with the driver's belt buckled then check circuit 237A for a short to ground.

Check for OPENS/SHORTS

Repair as needed.

CIRCUIT 1656

Function: Circuit 1656 is used by the ABS control module to control the TRACTION ACTIVE telltale. The ABS control module will ground this circuit to turn the TRACTION ACTIVE telltale ON. This circuit is monitored by the ABS control module for an open, short to ground or short to voltage. If one of these faults exists the ABS control module will set DTC 13.

CIRCUIT 1040

Function: This circuit provides power to the I/P cluster at all times for the HI beam telltale and DRL logic. Battery voltage should be present at all times on this circuit.

Check for OPENS/SHORTS

Repair as needed.
