Interior Lamps Diagnosis Cargo Lamps

Fuses

Body Fuse (Sedan and Coupe)

Location: IPJB

Type: 10A Minifuse

Feeds: Circuit 340

If the following systems are operating normally, the fuse is most likely good:

    • Cargo lamp switch
    • Dome lamp
    • Remote mirror switch
    • Map lights (SL/SC only)
    • Power door locks

If the fuse is blown, determine the cause of the blown fuse and repair.

Replace the fuse as needed.

CHIME Fuse (Wagon)

Location: IPJB

Type: 10A Minifuse

Feeds: Circuit 440

If the following systems are operating normally, the fuse is most likely good:

    • Chime
    • Radio
    • I/P cluster wagon lift gate ajar

If the fuse is blown, determine the cause of the blown fuse and repair.

Replace the fuse as needed.

Grounds

Before checking the ground circuit from the faulty component all the way to the ground stud, check the circuit from the splice pack to ground by testing some of the other subsystems grounded by the same splice pack. If the other subsystems function properly, it is most likely that the path from the splice pack to ground is good, or at least one of the paths is good with redundantly grounded splice packs.

Left Rear Body Ground Splice

The left rear body ground splice pack provides a ground path for the rear body and hatch harness. If one of the following systems is operating normally the ground circuit is most likely good:

    • License, CHMSL, cargo lamps
    • Fuel pump
    • Washer pump

Check for OPENS/SHORTS.

Repair as needed.

Components

Cargo Lamp Switch

Location: The switch is part of the lift gate latch assembly, and is not serviced separately.

Check for damaged or corroded terminals or connectors.

Check for terminal tightness.

Check for resistance through the switch.

Switch resistance: OPEN when lift gate closed. Less than one ohm when lift gate open.

Repair/replace as needed.

Cargo Lamp

Check for damaged or corroded terminals or connectors.

Check for terminal tightness.

Sedan and Coupe -- With bulb removed and deck lid open, measure voltage between socket contacts. Battery voltage should be measured.

Wagon -- Check voltage through the bulb socket. With bulb removed and lift gate open, measure voltage between socket contacts. Battery voltage should be measured.

When measuring for continuity between terminals A to C and B to C some resistance will be measured. This is the resistance of the Bulb.

Repair/replace as needed.

Lift gate Ajar Telltale Bulb

Visually inspect the lift gate ajar telltale bulb in the cluster.

Replace as needed.

Body Fuse

Location: IPJB

Type: 10A Minifuse

Feeds: Circuit 340

If the following systems are operating normally, the fuse is most likely good:

    • Cargo lamp
    • Dome lamp
    • Remote mirror switch
    • Map lights (SL/SC only)
    • Power door locks
    • Radio

If the fuse is blown, determine the cause of the blown fuse and repair.

If the other subsystems function properly, it is most likely that the path from the splice pack to ground is good, or at least one of the paths is good with redundantly grounded splice packs.

Left Body Ground Splice

Location: Left side under drivers seat

The left body ground splice pack provides a ground path for the left side of the body harness. If one of the following systems is operating normally the ground circuit is most likely good:

    • Power door locks
    • Dome lamp
    • Door jamb/ajar switches
    • Sunroof

Check for OPENS/SHORTS.

Repair as needed.

Dome Lamp

Check for damaged or corroded terminals or connectors. Check for terminal tightness.

Check voltage across the bulb socket.

    • With the bulb removed and switch in ON position, measure voltage between socket terminals. Battery voltage should be measured.
    • With the bulb removed and switch in DOOR position and a door open, measure voltage between socket terminals. Battery voltage should be measured.

Repair/replace as needed.
