This bulletin is being revised to add new 1996 paint colors, and supercedes bulletin 95-I-18, which should be discarded.
The listings of 1996 paint codes contained in this bulletin will enable Retailers to order the necessary paint materials required for proper field repairs. The list of colors indicates the suppliers' ordering codes for exterior and interior colors.
All Saturn vehicles are built at the Spring Hill, Tennessee manufacturing facility and painted with a base coat/clearcoat paint process.
Paint manufacturers such as those listed on the pages that follow, produce service paint which could perform satisfactorily for field repairs. Paint suppliers in your area can provide you with information regarding these materials.
The paints listed on pages 3 and 4 of this bulletin should be available from local paint suppliers. Please note the addition of Code 11, WA266C as a new 1996 color.
DISCLAIMER: We believe these sources and their products to be reliable. There may be additional manufacturers of such products. Saturn does not endorse, indicate any preference for or assume any responsibility for the products from these firms, or for any such items which may be available from other sources.
The Service Parts Identification (SPID) label illustrated in the Figure on page 3 is located on the spare tire cover. This label contains the paint codes needed to identify the paint materials for field repairs. This label identifies the paint code along with the WA# for that paint code. It is important to use this WA# along with the paint code to identify the correct repair materials. Care should be taken to transfer the SPID label or its information if the panel to which the label is affixed requires replacement. Replacement SPID labels are not available.
Enclosed with this bulletin is a "1996 Color Chips" chart to help identify the interior and exterior colors used on 1996 Saturn vehicles. (Exterior color Lt. Plum, Code #91 is not shown on the 1996 Color Chips Chart.)

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
