DATE: May 1996 -----
CONDITION: Dome lamp assembly comes loose and falls out of headliner. When ---------- inserted back into headliner, dome lamp assembly will not stay mounted in headliner.
CAUSE: Dome lamp assembly retention clips do not have enough tension ------ to hold dome lamp in place.
CORRECTION: Follow the procedure in this bulletin to install a screw through ----------- the dome lamp assembly into the roof structure.
1. Disconnect dome lamp assembly from electrical connector.
2. Using a small screwdriver, pry dome lamp lens retainer clip, located on back of dome lamp assembly, loose and remove dome lamp lens from dome lamp assembly.
3. Connect electrical connector to dome lamp assembly.
4. Position dome lamp assembly to roof of vehicle. Make sure that wiring is positioned to the front of vehicle.
5. Position self-tapping screw (P/N 11509339) into hole in dome lamp assembly.
6. Using a 7 mm socket with a ratchet or nut driver, apply upward pressure on self-tapping screw, and install self-tapping screw through dome lamp assembly, into roof structure.
Torque: 2 N-m (17 in-lbs)
7. Install dome lamp lens by positioning to dome lamp assembly and snapping into place
1. Hold dome lamp assembly stable with hand.
2. Insert a small flat blade screwdriver into slot on side of dome lamp assembly.
3. Exert pressure, then twist the screwdriver to unsnap the dome lamp lens from the retaining tab on dome lamp assembly.
1. Place dome lamp lens to dome lamp assembly.
2. Applying light pressure, press dome lamp lens in place.
