Date: August 4, 1995

To: Saturn Retailers, General Managers and Sales Managers

Subject: Pre-Sale Availability of Warranty Terms and Consumer Information - 1996 Warranty and Consumer Information Package

The purpose of this letter is to explain the accompanying 1996 Warranty and Consumer Information Package. The 1996 Warranty and Consumer Information Package is to assist your Saturn Retail Facility in satisfying its obligations under the NHTSA and Magnuson- Moss Warranty Act regulations (refer to article 3.7.5 of your Service Policies and Procedures Manual).

This package includes 1996 Saturn Warranty and Owner Assistance Information Booklets and copies of the 1996 Saturn Consumer Information Guide which contains vehicle stopping distances, tire warranties, and uniform tire quality grading information for the 1996 model year.

To comply with the pre-sale availability regulations, your retail facility should follow the procedures outlined below:

1) Make the text of the vehicle warranty available to prospective customers who request to review it prior to sale.

2) Make the 1996 Saturn Consumer Information Guide readily available to prospective customers who request to review it prior to sale.

3) Allow prospective customers to keep a "copy" of the warranty and consumer information, at no charge and without unreasonable delay, if requested before the sale.

4) For additional copies of the Warranty and Owner Assistance Information Booklet and/or Consumer Information Guide (Item Numbers S05 96001K3 and S03 96038, respectively), contact the Saturn Assistance Center at 1-800-828-2112, prompt 3.

5) Inform all retail facility sales personnel of the regulation requirements and the manner in which they are to handle customer requests using Warranty and Consumer Information Package materials provided.

Complete 1996 Warranty and Consumer Information Package materials should be retained in your facility until your last new 1996 Saturn is delivered. If you have any questions about your responsibilities under the law, you should consult with your attorney.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
