OWNER PROTECTION PLAN HIGHLIGHTS

Date: August 2, 1995

Subject: 1996 Owner Protection Plan Highlights

To: Saturn Retailers and General Managers

We are pleased to announce that Saturn will retain the outstanding coverage, features and customer value of previous Owner Protection Plans for the 1996 model year. It is important to note that a sampling of Saturn Retailers representing the Customer Support Task Force, along with the Franchise Operations Team (FOT), participated in the development process for the 1996 Owner Protection Plan.

"Bumper-to-Bumper" Warranty

The "Bumper-to-Bumper" New Car Limited Warranty, Federal Emission Control Warranties and California Emission Control Warranties remain unchanged for 1996 except that specific parts covered are listed for both of the emission warranties.

Saturn Service Plans

Based on feedback from a Retailer survey conducted in January 1995, a review of competitive offerings, and continuous improvement of our product, several Saturn Service Plan (SSP) enhancements will take effect on October 1, 1995. We believe the changes listed below will make our program the best price/value package in the industry, creating a "win-win" for customers, Retailers, and Saturn:

1) Reduction in MSRP in our two most popular coverages while maintaining Retailer margin for those Plans ... details to follow in the near future.

2) Addition of a 6 year/100,000 mile $0 deductible Extended Vehicle Coverage Plan for Saturn Certified Used Cars.

3) Continue eligibility time frame of six months from purchase of vehicle. Certified Used Car eligibility will be six months except for customers with the 12 month/12,000 mile warranty which will be eligible to purchase a Saturn Service Plan only at time of sale.

4) Saturn Car Care pricing will reflect increased Retailer margins plus an increase in the maximum amount allowed for oil from $5 to $6 per oil change.

5) Saturn Car Care eligibility time frame will increase up to and including the customers second oil change. In addition, if a customer purchases Saturn Car Care in the service lane during their second oil change, the cost of that oil change (but not previous ones) will be covered.

6) Saturn Service Plan Towing and Road Service will be enhanced to cover any towing, or road service labor, up to a maximum of $100 (e.g. jump start for dead battery or lockouts).

Again, details, pricing and program materials will be provided under separate correspondence in the near future. Until October 1, 1995, you should continue to use current program pricing and materials.

Roadside Assistance

The Saturn Roadside Assistance program remains unchanged for 1996. Note: For those owners who elect SSP coverage, they will be covered for any towing and road service up to a maximum of $100.

Moneyback Guarantee

The Moneyback Guarantee (MBG) program has been described by our retail partners as: "Unique to Saturn, provides competitive advantage, differs us from the other makes ... that's hard to do. " In addition, the MBG assists in the launch of new Marketing Areas. For these very reasons, the Moneyback Guarantee Program will remain unchanged for the 1996 model year. With your continued support, this program will be a key factor in providing the "Saturn Difference" to all of our customers.

We think you will agree that the 1996 Owner Protection Plan continues to give our owners one of the best protection and assistance programs in the industry and complements our new model extremely well. In addition, we want to recognize and commend you for your outstanding support and execution of this program, which has truly made the "Saturn Difference" a reality. Together, we can continue to provide the framework to build and maintain strong, long-term customer enthusiasm, fortifying our relationship marketing strategy.

Sincerely,

Customer and Retail Support Team

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
