Sunroof Squeaks When Driving Over Rough Roads

Condition
Some customers may comment about a squeak or rubbing type noise coming from the sunroof area when driving over rough roads. This condition may be worse with the sunshade in the full open position.
Cause
Squeak or rubbing noise may be caused by sunroof seal rubbing against the paint in the roof opening.
Correction
Lubricate the sunroof seal using the procedure outlined in this bulletin.
Procedure
- Open sunroof sunshade to the full open position.
- Verify noise is coming from sunroof seal by pushing up and down at rear of sunroof glass from inside vehicle.
- Partially open sunroof glass to the vent position.
- Clean sunroof seal with window cleaner, or equivalent, and allow to dry.
- Apply Krytox lubricant (P/N GPL-105-oil), or equivalent, to the sunroof seal, using a "Dab-O-Matic" applicator.
- Verify noise is gone by pushing up and down at the rear of sunroof glass from inside vehicle.

Caution: KRYTOX LUBRICANT MAY CAUSE SKIN AND EYE IRRITATION. AVOID DIRECT CONTACT WITH KRYTOX LUBRICANT. TOXIC MATERIALS MAY BE FORMED IF KRYTOX LUBRICANT IS HEATED ABOVE 260° C (500° F). INHALATION OF SMOKE FROM TOBACCO CONTAMINATED WITH KRYTOX LUBRICANT MAY CAUSE RESPIRATORY TRACT IRRITATION.

(Saturn Retailers located in Canada should order P/N 03634770 (29 ml) that is available from GMSPO). |
