Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the rear tire assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.

  3. Object Number: 891510  Size: SH
  4. Remove the rear exhaust and muffler. Refer to Resonator Replacement in Engine Exhaust.

  5. Object Number: 892450  Size: SH
  6. Remove the fuel tank heat shield from the rear suspension support. Refer to Fuel Tank Heat Shield Replacement in Engine Exhaust.

  7. Object Number: 891513  Size: SH
  8. Remove the upper and lower control arm to rear knuckle assembly attachment bolts. Discard the bolts and nuts.

  9. Object Number: 891515  Size: SH
  10. Disconnect the stabilizer bar links from the rear axle control arms.
  11. Using a suitable support stand, support the rear suspension support.

  12. Object Number: 891518  Size: SH
  13. Remove the rear suspension support to body mounting bolts. Discard the bolts.
  14. Remove the suspension support from the vehicle.
  15. If replacing the support assembly, remove the upper control arm. Refer to Rear Axle Upper Control Arm Replacement .
  16. If replacing the support assembly, remove the lower control arm. Refer to Rear Axle Lower Control Arm Replacement .

Installation Procedure

  1. If replacing the support assembly, install the lower control arm. Refer to Rear Axle Lower Control Arm Replacement .
  2. If replacing the support assembly, install the upper control arm. Refer to Rear Axle Upper Control Arm Replacement .
  3. Position the rear suspension support to the vehicle, using a suitable support stand.
  4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Install new rear suspension support to body mounting bolts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 90 N·m (66 lb ft) plus an additional 90 to 105 degrees.

  7. Remove the support stand.

  8. Object Number: 891513  Size: SH
  9. Install the knuckle assembly to the upper and lower rear suspension control arms using new nuts and bolts.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 90 N·m (66 lb ft) plus an additional 60 to 75 degrees.

  11. Install the stabilizer links to the rear axle trailing arm.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 55 N·m (41 lb ft).

  13. Install the fuel tank heat shield from the rear suspension support. Refer to Fuel Tank Heat Shield Replacement in Engine Exhaust.

  14. Object Number: 891510  Size: SH
  15. Install the rear exhaust and muffler. Refer to Resonator Replacement in Engine Exhaust.
  16. Install the rear tire assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  17. Lower the vehicle.
