Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.

  3. Object Number: 891828  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the brake hose from the brake bracket.
  5. If applicable, disconnect the ABS harness from the brake bracket.

  6. Object Number: 891540  Size: SH
  7. Loosen the steering knuckle to strut fasteners.

  8. Object Number: 891609  Size: SH
  9. Disconnect the stabilizer link from the strut assembly. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement .

  10. Object Number: 898135  Size: SH
  11. Remove the strut assembly to body attachment nut. Discard the nut.
  12. Important: Protect the CV boot during strut removal.

  13. Remove the strut to knuckle fasteners. Discard the fasteners.
  14. Remove the strut assembly from the vehicle.
  15. For component replacement, refer to Strut, Strut Component, and Spring Replacement .

Installation Procedure

  1. For component Installation, refer to Strut, Strut Component, and Spring Replacement .
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 898135  Size: SH
  3. Install the strut assembly to the strut tower using a new attachment nut.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 55 N·m (40 lb ft).

  5. Install the strut to the steering knuckle using new strut to knuckle fasteners.
  6. Tighten

    1. Tighten the fasteners to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).
    2. Retighten the fasteners to 100 N·m (73 lb ft) plus an additional 30-40 degrees.

  7. Connect the stabilizer link to the strut. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement .

  8. Object Number: 891828  Size: SH
  9. If applicable, connect the ABS harness to the brake bracket.
  10. Connect the brake hose from the brake bracket.
  11. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  12. Lower the vehicle.
  13. Check the wheel alignment. Refer to Wheel Alignment Measurement in Wheel Alignment.
