Press each button on the transmitter one at a time.

Does the system operate normally?

Lock and unlock the door locks using the controls inside the vehicle.

Do the locks operate properly?

Go to Step 4

Operate the rear compartment release using the controls inside the vehicle.

Does the rear compartment release operate properly?

Go to Step 5

Important: While viewing scan tool data and pressing and releasing each button (Lock, Unlock, Trunk and Panic) one at a time on the transmitter, the displayed data should cycle between OFF and ON.

  1. Turn ignition to run.
  2. Connect scan tool and select Body Control Module
  3. Select Data Display.
  4. Select Door Lock Data.
  5. While pressing each button on the transmitter, view the RKE Lock Button, RKE Unlock Button, RKE Trunk Button, and RKE Panic Button states.

Do the states change with each button press?

Go to Step  10

  1. Remove the battery from the keyless entry transmitter.
  2. With a DMM, measure the battery voltage.

Is the transmitter battery voltage greater than 2.8V?

Go to Step  8

Go to Step 7

Replace the transmitter battery. Refer to Transmitter Battery Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 11

Replace the keyless entry transmitter.

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 9

Perform the transmitter programming procedure. Refer to Transmitter Programming .

Was the programming procedure completed successfully?

Go to Step 11

Important: When replacing the BCM, perform the BCM programming procedure.

Replace the body control module (BCM). Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control Systems.

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 11
