Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  2. Remove the I/P compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  3. Remove the right side heater outlet assembly retainer.

  4. Object Number: 896489  Size: SH
  5. Remove the right side heater outlet assembly.

  6. Object Number: 894265  Size: SH
  7. Disconnect the recirculation actuator electrical connector.
  8. Disconnect the aspirator hose and position the hose aside.
  9. For vehicles equipped with automatic climate control only.

    Caution: Blower resistor card has sharp edges and may be very hot if blower was used prior to servicing.

  10. Remove the blower motor resistor screws.
  11. Use the electrical harness to pull the resistor card out of the module.
  12. Disconnect the blower resistor card from the electrical connector.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 878160  Size: SH
  1. Connect the blower motor resistor electrical connector to the resistor card.
  2. Install the blower resistor card into the slot in the module with the circuit side facing towards the rear of the vehicle. The resistor will only fit one way.
  3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  4. Install the blower motor resistor screws.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 1.0 N·m (9 lb in).

  6. Connect the recirculation actuator electrical connector.
  7. Install the I/P compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.

  8. Object Number: 896489  Size: SH
  9. Install the right side heater outlet.
  10. Install the right side heater outlet retainer.
  11. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
