Power Steering Gear Inlet and Outlet Hose Replacement L61
Removal Procedure
- Remove the power steering reservoir cap.
- Disconnect both power steering return hose
at the power steering gear.
- Disconnect the power steering return hose from the reservoir.
- Separate the return hose from the pressure hose.
- Remove the power steering hose assembly from the vehicle. Note the routing
for installation.
Installation Procedure
- Route the hoses to the vehicle as noted
during removal.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Connect the power steering return hose to the steering gear.
Tighten
Tighten the power steering hose fitting to 27 N·m
(20 lb ft).
- Connect the power steering return hose to the reservoir.
Tighten
Tighten the clamp to 2.5 N·m (22 lb in).
- Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to
Power Steering System Bleeding
.
Power Steering Gear Inlet and Outlet Hose Replacement L81
Important: The factory power steering hoses are installed
as a bundle, but are serviced separately. The power steering hoses do not need to
be bundled for installation.
Removal Procedure
- Remove the power steering reservoir cap.
- Disconnect both power steering hoses at
the power steering gear.
- Remove the power steering hoses to transaxle clamp bolt.
- Disconnect the power steering return hose
from the reservoir.
- Remove the power steering hoses
to cylinder head clamp bolt.
- Disconnect the power steering pressure hose from the power steering pump.
- Remove the power steering hose assembly from the vehicle. Note the routing
for installation.
- When replacing a power steering hose, drill out the rivets of the bundle
straps. Discard the assembly straps.
Installation Procedure
Important: The power steering hoses do not need to be
strapped together as a bundle for installation.
- Route the hoses to the vehicle as noted during removal.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
Important: Before tightening the power steering hoses
at the steering gear, assure the hose routing to the transaxle attachment point.
- Connect the power steering return hose to the steering gear.
Tighten
Tighten the power steering hose fitting to 27 N·m
(20 lb ft).
- Connect the power steering pressure hose to the steering gear.
Tighten
Tighten the power steering hose fitting to 27 N·m
(20 lb ft).
- Attach the power steering hoses to the transaxle.
Tighten
Tighten the power steering hose to transaxle bolt
to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Connect the power steering return hose to
the reservoir.
Tighten
Tighten the clamp to 2.5 N·m (22 lb in).
- Attach the hose to the cylinder
head.
Tighten
Tighten the power steering hose to cylinder head
bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Connect the power steering pressure hose to the power steering pump.
Tighten
Tighten the power steering hose fitting to 27 N·m
(20 lb ft).
- Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to
Power Steering System Bleeding
