Power Steering Gear Inlet and Outlet Hose Replacement L61

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the power steering reservoir cap.

  2. Object Number: 891755  Size: SH
  3. Disconnect both power steering return hose at the power steering gear.

  4. Object Number: 891794  Size: SH
  5. Disconnect the power steering return hose from the reservoir.
  6. Separate the return hose from the pressure hose.
  7. Remove the power steering hose assembly from the vehicle. Note the routing for installation.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 891755  Size: SH
  1. Route the hoses to the vehicle as noted during removal.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Connect the power steering return hose to the steering gear.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering hose fitting to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  5. Connect the power steering return hose to the reservoir.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the clamp to 2.5 N·m (22 lb in).

  7. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .

Power Steering Gear Inlet and Outlet Hose Replacement L81

Important: The factory power steering hoses are installed as a bundle, but are serviced separately. The power steering hoses do not need to be bundled for installation.

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the power steering reservoir cap.

  2. Object Number: 891800  Size: SH
  3. Disconnect both power steering hoses at the power steering gear.
  4. Remove the power steering hoses to transaxle clamp bolt.

  5. Object Number: 891805  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the power steering return hose from the reservoir.

  7. Object Number: 891811  Size: SH
  8. Remove the power steering hoses to cylinder head clamp bolt.
  9. Disconnect the power steering pressure hose from the power steering pump.
  10. Remove the power steering hose assembly from the vehicle. Note the routing for installation.
  11. When replacing a power steering hose, drill out the rivets of the bundle straps. Discard the assembly straps.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 891800  Size: SH

    Important: The power steering hoses do not need to be strapped together as a bundle for installation.

  1. Route the hoses to the vehicle as noted during removal.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

    Important: Before tightening the power steering hoses at the steering gear, assure the hose routing to the transaxle attachment point.

  3. Connect the power steering return hose to the steering gear.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering hose fitting to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  5. Connect the power steering pressure hose to the steering gear.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering hose fitting to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  7. Attach the power steering hoses to the transaxle.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering hose to transaxle bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  9. Connect the power steering return hose to the reservoir.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the clamp to 2.5 N·m (22 lb in).

  11. Attach the hose to the cylinder head.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering hose to cylinder head bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  13. Connect the power steering pressure hose to the power steering pump.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering hose fitting to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  15. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
