Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement Disc

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 891761  Size: SH
  1. Disengage the console park brake boot by squeezing the boot on the sides while pulling upward.
  2. Loosen the park brake adjusting nut to allow slack in the cable.
  3. Caution: Ensure that the vehicle is properly supported and squarely positioned. To help avoid personal injury when a vehicle is on a hoist, provide additional support for the vehicle on the opposite end from which the components are being removed.

  4. Raise the vehicle on a hoist.

  6. Disconnect the rear brake cable to the front park brake cable and discard the clip.
  7. Remove the park brake cable return spring from the backing plate and remove the cable.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 891919  Size: SH
  1. Install the park brake cable onto the park brake actuator and install the return spring.
  2. Important: A new attachment clip must be used whenever the park brake cables are disconnected.

  3. Using a new clip, attach the rear park brake cable to the front park brake cable.
  4. Adjust the park brake cable. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment .
  5. Install the park brake boot.
  6. Lower the vehicle from the hoist.

Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement Drum

Removal Procedure

  1. Release the park brake.
  2. Remove the park brake boot by squeezing the boot on both sides while pulling upwards.
  3. Caution: Ensure that the vehicle is properly supported and squarely positioned. To help avoid personal injury when a vehicle is on a hoist, provide additional support for the vehicle on the opposite end from which the components are being removed.

  4. Raise the vehicle on a hoist. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  5. Object Number: 891510  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the exhaust resonator from the exhaust manifold pipe.
  7. Remove the exhaust pipe-to-body insulators.
  8. Lower the exhaust resonator pipe and the muffler assembly from the vehicle.

  10. Remove the exhaust heat shield.

  11. Object Number: 891919  Size: SH
  12. Disengage the park brake cable from the rear park brake cable and discard the clips. New clips must be used whenever disconnected.

  13. Object Number: 891922  Size: SH
  14. Disengage the front park brake cable from the equalizer.

  15. Object Number: 891924  Size: SH
  16. Remove the cable from the body attachment points.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 891924  Size: SH
  1. Attach the park brake cable to the body attaching points.

  2. Object Number: 891919  Size: SH

    Important: New clips must be used to attach the park brake cable to the rear park brake cable as retention of old clips is not sufficient.

  3. Using new clips, attach the brake cable to the rear park brake cable.

  4. Object Number: 891922  Size: SH
  5. Attach the front park brake to the equalizer.
  6. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  7. Install the exhaust heat shield and the fasteners.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the exhaust heat shield-to-body fasteners to 4 N·m (35 lb in).

  9. Install the exhaust system and tighten the fasteners.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the resonator pipe-to-exhaust manifold pipe to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  11. Lower the vehicle from the hoist.
  12. Adjust the park brake cable. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment .
