Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 891828  Size: SH
  1. Raise the vehicle on a hoist.
  2. Remove the wheel and the tire assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  3. Pry off the locking plate and remove the brake pressure hose from the strut.

  4. Object Number: 891882  Size: SH

    Notice: Do not let weight of caliper hang on brake hose as this could damage the brake hose. Use mechanics wire to tie caliper to strut.

  5. Remove the caliper bracket-to-steering knuckle bolts.
  6. Suspend the caliper using mechanics wire.

  7. Object Number: 891917  Size: SH
  8. Remove rotor the retaining screw.
  9. Important: Refer to Brake Rotor Surface and Wear Inspection .

  10. Remove the rotor from the vehicle.
  11. Thickness Chart - Front Rotor Thickness

        • New
            25 mm (0.98 in)
        • Minimum after Turning
            23.1 mm (0.90 in)
        • Discard
            22.8 mm (0.87 in)

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 891917  Size: SH
  1. Install the brake rotor onto the wheel hub.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Tighten the rotor retaining screw.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the brake rotor retaining screw to 4 N·m (35 lb in).

  5. Clean the caliper support bracket fasteners thoroughly with brake and choke cleaner P/N 21007432 or equivalent.
  6. Important: If LOCTITE 272® Threadlocker or equivalent is not available, new caliper support bracket fasteners must be used.

  7. Apply LOCTITE 272® Threadlocker or equivalent to the caliper support bracket fasteners.

  8. Object Number: 891882  Size: SH
  9. Install the caliper bracket-to-steering knuckle bolts.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the brake caliper-to-steering knuckle bolts to 95 N·m (70 lb ft).

  11. Attach the brake pressure hose and install the locking plate.
  12. Caution: Refer to Wheel Installation Caution in the Preface section.

  13. Install the front wheel and the tire assemblies.
  14. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  15. Lower the vehicle from the hoist.
