J 38778 Door Trim Pad Clip Remover

1. Remove the rear license plate.
2. Open the rear compartment.
3. Remove the screws retaining the applique from inside the rear compartment.
4. Remove the screws from the license plate pocket.

Important: Place a rag or tape around the tool to prevent damage to the painted surfaces.

5. Using J 38778 , disengage the retaining clips across the top surface of the applique.
6. Disconnect the license plate bulb socket from the lamp.
7. Remove the applique from the rear compartment lid.

1. Connect the harness socket to the license lamp.
2. Align the applique retainers. Press the retainers firmly until the retainers are fully seated.
3. Install the applique screws into the license plate pocket.

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

4. Install the applique screws inside the rear compartment lid.

Tighten
Tighten the screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

5. Close the rear compartment.
