Use the Scan Tool Data Display Values and Definitions Information in order
to assist in diagnosing vehicle malfunctions. Compare the vehicles actual scan
tool data with the typical data display value table information. Use the data information
in order to aid in understanding the nature of the problem when the vehicle does
not match with the typical data display values.
The scan tool data values were taken from a known good vehicle under the following
conditions:
• | The ignition switch is in the ON position. |
• | The engine is not running. |
• | The vehicle is in PARK. |
ALC Headlamp Relay: This body control module (BCM) output displays
the state of the ALC Headlamp Relay. When the proper conditions are present for
the BCM to command on the ALC Headlamp Relay by providing ground to the relay,
ON is displayed.
ALC Light Sensor: This BCM input displays the output voltage
of the ambient light sensor based on the intensity of light detected. As the
light intensity increases, the sensor displayed voltage increases. In the LIGHT
state, a high voltage (2.2-4.7 volts) is present and the DRL will
be ON. In the DARK state, a low voltage (0.2-1.3 volts) is present
and the headlamps will be ON.
ALC Park Relay: This BCM output displays the state of the ALC
Park Relay. When the proper conditions are present for the BCM to command on the
ALC Park Relay by providing ground to the relay, ON is displayed.
ALC Switch: This BCM input displays whether ALC is selected
or not. When the headlamp switch is placed in the Auto position, ON is displayed.
When the headlamp switch is placed in the Off position, OFF is displayed
Battery 1: This BCM input displays the output voltage of the
vehicle's battery. This parameter is displayed in volts.
Day/Night Status: The scan tool displays Day/Night. When the
daylight conditions are present the scan tool will display Day. When low light conditions
are present the scan tool will display Night.
DRL Status: This body control module input displays the status
of the daytime running lamps (DRL).
Fog Lamp Relay : This BCM output displays the state of the
fog lamp relay. When the proper conditions are present for the BCM to command on
the fog lamp relay by providing ground to the relay, ON is displayed.
Fog Lamp Switch: The BCM uses this input to determine if the
fog lamps have been requested on. When the fog lamps switch is pressed once, ON
is displayed on the scan tool. When the fog lamp switch is pressed again, OFF is
displayed.
High Beam Switch: This BCM input displays the state of the
high beam headlamps. When the BCM senses that the normal high beam headlamps are
illuminated, the operating voltage of the high beam headlamps is displayed.
Inadvertent Power Command: This BCM input displays the state
of the inadvertent power relay. When the BCM senses that the relay is on, ON is
displayed.
Inadvertent Power Input: This BCM output displays the state
of the inadvertent power relay that is internal to the BCM. The BCM uses this output
to provide battery voltage to the courtesy lamps. If the BCM senses that a lamp
has been illuminated for approximately 20 minutes after exiting the vehicle, the
BCM will turn off the inadvertent power relay to protect the battery from run-down.
Interior Lighting Command: This BCM output displays the amount
of dimming of the interior lights. This parameter is displayed as a percentage.
Interior Lighting Relay: This BCM output displays the state
of the Interior Lighting Relay. When the proper conditions are present for the
BCM to command on the Interior Lighting Relay by providing ground to the relay,
ON is displayed.
Interior Lights: This BCM input displays the state of the
interior lights. When the BCM senses that the interior lights are illuminated, ON
is displayed.
I/P Dimmer Input: The BCM uses this input to determine the
request level of the instrument panel dimming lamps. When full intensity is requested
the scan tool will display less than 1 volt. When full dim is requested, the scan
tool will display approximately battery voltage. The voltage will vary within this
range depending on the position of the lamp dimmer switch.
I/P Dimmer Output: This BCM output displays the amount of dimming
based on the position of the I/P Dimmer Switch. This parameter is displayed as a
percentage.
LF Turn Signal: This body control module input displays the
state of the left front turn signal. When the BCM senses that the left front turn
signal is illuminated, ON is displayed.
Low Beam Switch: This BCM input displays the state of the
low beam headlamps. When the BCM senses that the normal low beam headlamps are
illuminated, the operating voltage of the low beam headlamps is displayed.
LR Turn Signal: This body control module input displays the
state of the left rear turn signal. When the BCM senses that the left rear turn
signal is illuminated, ON is displayed.
Park Lamp Switch: This BCM input displays the state of the
park lamps switch. When the BCM senses that the park lamps are illuminated, ON
is displayed.
RF Turn Signal: This BCM input displays the state of the
right front turn signal. When the BCM senses that the right front turn signal is
illuminated, ON is displayed.
RR Turn Signal: This BCM input displays the state
of the right rear turn signal. When the BCM senses that the right rear turn signal
is illuminated, ON is displayed.
Turn/Hazard Input: The BCM uses this input to determine if
the turn or hazard lamps have been requested on. When the turn signal or hazard
lamps have been activated, ON is displayed on the scan tool.
