Removal Procedure
- Raise the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
.
- Remove the left wheel and tire assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
.
- Remove the left wheel driveshaft. Refer to
Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement
.
Important: Do not damage machined surfaces of the bearing retainer and transaxle case when removing the retainer.
- Remove the differential bearing retainer fasteners and carefully remove the retainer.
- Remove the O-ring from the differential bearing retainer.
Installation Procedure
Important: Make sure the differential bearing shims are in the case bore prior to installing the differential bearing retainer.
- Clean the seal bore in the transaxle case.
- Install the new O-ring on the differential bearing retainer. Lubricate the O-ring with transaxle lubricant and install the bearing retainer.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the differential bearing retainer fasteners.
Tighten
Tighten the differential bearing retainer-to-transaxle bolts to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install the left wheel drive shaft. Refer to
Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement
.
- Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
.
- Lower the vehicle from the hoist.
