Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 891537  Size: SH
  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the left wheel and tire assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  3. Remove the left wheel driveshaft. Refer to Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement .

  4. Object Number: 895487  Size: SH

    Important: Do not damage machined surfaces of the bearing retainer and transaxle case when removing the retainer.

  5. Remove the differential bearing retainer fasteners and carefully remove the retainer.
  6. Remove the O-ring from the differential bearing retainer.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 895487  Size: SH

    Important: Make sure the differential bearing shims are in the case bore prior to installing the differential bearing retainer.

  1. Clean the seal bore in the transaxle case.
  2. Install the new O-ring on the differential bearing retainer. Lubricate the O-ring with transaxle lubricant and install the bearing retainer.
  3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  4. Install the differential bearing retainer fasteners.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the differential bearing retainer-to-transaxle bolts to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  6. Install the left wheel drive shaft. Refer to Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement .

  8. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  9. Lower the vehicle from the hoist.
