Removal Procedure
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the vehicle speed sensor (VSS).

    3. Object Number: 1394764 Size: SH
  3. Remove the VSS retaining bolt, and remove the VSS.

    4. Object Number: 1394765 Size: SH
  4. Remove the rear, or LH intermediate drive shaft bracket-to-engine block bolts, and remove the vehicle speed sensor bracket.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1394765 Size: SH
  1. Position the VSS bracket to the intermediate drive shaft bracket, and install the intermediate drive shaft bracket-to-engine block bolts, beginning with the upper bolt.

    2. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  2. Position the VSS to the VSS bracket. Ensure that the VSS locating pin fits securely in the locating hole on the bracket.
  3. Install the vehicle speed sensor retaining bolt.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  4. Connect the electrical connector to the VSS.
  5. Lower the vehicle.
