To unlock the trunk from the outside, insert the key and turn the trunk lock cylinder or use the remote keyless entry transmitter.
Caution: Exhaust gases can enter the vehicle if it is driven with the liftgate, trunk/hatch open, or with any objects that pass through the seal between the body and the trunk/hatch or liftgate. Engine exhaust contains Carbon Monoxide (CO) which cannot be seen or smelled. It can cause unconsciousness and even death.
If the vehicle must be driven with the liftgate, or trunk/hatch open:• | Close all of the windows. |
• | Fully open the air outlets on or under the instrument panel. |
• | Adjust the Climate Control system to a setting that brings in only outside air and set the fan speed to the highest setting. See Climate Control System in the Index. |
• | If the vehicle is equipped with a power liftgate, disable the power liftgate function. |
Your vehicle has a trunk release button located to the left of the steering wheel. To open the trunk, push the trunk release button. Refer to Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) System for procedures on opening the trunk with the Saturn Security System transmitter.
Your vehicle is equipped with a trunk release lockout feature. When this feature is activated, the trunk release button inside the vehicle or on your remote keyless entry transmitter won't open the trunk when traveling greater than 3 hm/h.
This helps prevent unauthorized entry into your trunk after you have secured items in the trunk and you are leaving the vehicle unattended. The switch is located on the latch mounted inside the trunk lid.
To help prevent unauthorized entry into your trunk, you do the following:
Your normal ignition key will open the trunk, even if the valet lockout switch is in the lockout position.
Notice: Do not use the emergency trunk release handle as a tie-down or anchor point when securing items in the trunk as it could damage the handle. The emergency trunk release handle is only intended to aid a person trapped in a latched trunk, enabling them to open the trunk from the inside.
There is a glow-in-the-dark trunk release handle attached to the trunk lid of your vehicle, which is located inside the trunk near the bottom edge of the trunk lid.
This handle will glow following exposure to light.
The trunk lid can be opened by pulling on the t-shaped release handle and pushing the trunk lid open from the inside.
