Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
in Engine Electrical.
- Remove the ECM. Refer to
Engine Control Module Replacement
in Engine Controls - 2.2L (L61).
Important: Use care not to damage connector retaining levers.
- Remove the TCM connectors from the TCM, noting proper connection points for installation.
Notice: Control module damage may result when the metal case contacts battery voltage. DO NOT contact the control module metal case with battery voltage when servicing a control module, using
battery booster cables or when charging the vehicles battery.
- Use the retaining tab in order to release the TCM from the under hood junction block bracket.
- Lift the TCM halfway, then rotate the TCM clockwise to remove.
Installation Procedure
Notice: Control module damage may result when the metal case contacts battery voltage. DO NOT contact the control module metal case with battery voltage when servicing a control module, using
battery booster cables or when charging the vehicles battery.
- Place the lower right corner of the TCM into the under hood junction block bracket.
- Rotate the TCM counter clockwise, then press the TCM downward until fully seated.
- Install the TCM harness connectors to the TCM, as noted during removal.
- Install the ECM. Refer to
Engine Control Module Replacement
in Engine Controls - 2.2L (L61).
- Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
in Engine Electrical.
- Program the TCM. Refer to
Transmission Control Module Reprogramming
